19th European Conference: Errecom’s paper focuses on lubricants and low GWP refrigerants
On June 10th, Paolo Mattavelli, our R&D Manager, spoke at the 19th European Conference hosted by the Polytechnic University of Milan.
This year, the most renowned and exclusive event of the sector debated “the latest technologies in refrigeration and air conditioning”.
Organised into five main sessions, this edition saw the main international experts taking part in various talks and speeches to define, together, a future overview of the refrigeration world.
Paolo Mattavelli’s speech focused on “Lubricants for lower GWP refrigerants”. Climate change and environmental sustainability are some of the biggest challenges of our time and, to guarantee a real environmental change, it is essential to analyse in detail the causes of pollution related to air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
Looking at the environmental challenge from a different perspective: this is what Errecom suggests, and that’s why our R&D manager presented lubricants as the key players in the environmental challenge.
Even though there is no doubt that the transition to natural or lower GWP refrigerants is the right path to take to protect the environment, we can’t deny that this choice leads to several challenges. Problems related to working pressure, solubility, or chemical stability of alternative refrigerants can easily damage air conditioning and refrigeration systems, reducing their efficiency and lifespan. Therefore, lubricants come into play as carriers capable of carrying specific additives into the system to neutralise chemical reactions and to guarantee its stability, efficiency, and longer lifespan.
