Detection of refrigerant leaks in AC/R and A/C systems

The E.U. regulation rules the duties of technicians and owners of an AC/R system during installation and maintenance. The former must be sure to assemble and install a functioning system, the latter have to learn how to properly manage and maintain the air conditioner.

As reported in a previous article (2), it is essential to identify refrigerants leaks in an AC/R system in order to reduce to 0 the impact on global warming, but also to avoid greater damage to the system that could requires expensive interventions and the probable replacement of the system itself.

For these reasons, identifying any possible leakage, even the smallest one, using the right tools and products must be the main focus.

Errecom’s twenty years of experience in additives has brought to the development and design of products for detecting refrigerants leaks that can act from the outside as well as from the inside of any air conditioning and refrigeration system.

Best Bubbles and Best Bubbles Fluo act from the outside. They are sprayed near the leak and by adhering to the surface of the system forming bubbles in correspondence of the micro leaks of refrigerant. Best Bubbles Fluo is particularly recommended in case of interventions where visibility is low because the bubbles are fluorescent when exposed to UV light.

If you want to act from the inside, Errecom proposes the line of Brilliant, the detector additive available in different formulation according to specific application in HVAC/R or automotive sectors.

The fluorescent detector is inserted in the system through the cartridge or the recovery stations and it will clearly highlight the leak by coming out from it. Thanks to their fluorescence, the leak will be easily located with a UV lamp.

All detector additives do not contain solvents and comply with SAE J2297 and SAE J2298. In addition, they do not damage the system and recovery station where they are inserted to trace refrigerant gas leaks.

Once the refrigerant leak has been found and the leak has been repaired with the Errecom leak stops, it is recommended to remove fluorescent detector residues to avoid false positives during a further search.
