Refrigerants allow to air conditioning and refrigeration systems to work according to your needs.
As long as the refrigerants circulate in the system, they don’t impact the environment. When leaks occur, the refrigerant escapes and gets released into the atmosphere with a negative effect on the ecosystem. This is due to chemical reactivity – identified by the acronym GWP (Global Warming Potential) – that each refrigerant has. GWP describes the potential contribution on the greenhouse effect caused by the molecules contained in a gas emission in relation to the CO2 effect (whose value is equal to 1). In other words, GWP measures the time necessary for a gas compound to disperse into the air in relation to CO2: each GWP value is measured in a specific time interval (20, 100 or 500 years, for example).
Some refrigerants have a very high GWP: this means that if dispersed, they dissolve much slower, increasing the greenhouse effect and consequently the Earth’s temperature. In order to phase them out, the European Union developed the F-Gas Regulation in 2014 (1): since then, research has been conducted to find new refrigerants with a lower GWP that do not impact too much on the performance of AC/R systems by 2025 (2).

The search for refrigerants leaks and subsequent repair can be done in two ways: either by acting from outside the AC/R system or by acting from the inside. To search for leaks from the outside, Errecom has developed Best Bubbles and Best Bubbles Fluo microleak detectors: sprayed on the system components, they identify the leak through the formation of air bubbles. Trace Brilliant and Brilliant are the detectors for the identification of refrigerants leaks by the inside of the AC/R system. These products are solvent-free and absolutely safe for the components of the system, giving reliable and immediate results without false positives when inspected with a UV lamp. As regards the repair of refrigerants leaks, Errecom has formulated products and additives that have become a reference point for both Automotive and HVAC/R technicians. External and FixQuick repair leaks from the outside, allowing a quick intervention without stopping the system. Extreme Ultra and Extreme Ultra White (specific for refrigerators with hermetic compressor) are leak stop additives that allow to repair micro leaks from inside the system.
The leak stop additives are also ideal products for a preventive action: once inserted in the system they continue to circulate carried by the lubricant and refrigerant gas. In this way they are able to constantly monitor the possible formation of micro leaks throughout the life of the system itself, repairing them promptly and avoiding the dispersion of the refrigerant gas.
