Always with us: in travel with the four-legged friends
As reported by travelNuity (1), Italy is one of the most pet-friendly European country, ahead of France, Poland and Spain.
In fact, there are more than 60 million pets that are not just companions in life, but they are really beneficial for the quality of life thanks to the man-animal relationship. For example, the famous Pet Therapy is an example of therapy intervention which is now popular for helping children, elderly and disabled people.
So, it is understandable that families with pets do not want to separate themselves neither during holidays nor during short trips.
A recent study published by Pet Business World based on data collected from the dog-friendly travel company PetsPijamas (2) has shown that bookings of pet-friendly holidays (especially with dogs) has increased by 41% in 2020, despite the global health emergency. Although this study was based on data from the United Kingdom, there are reasons to believe that a similar tendency is present in Italy, too. Indeed, according to a Tripadvisor survey, 3 out of 5 Italians are looking for holiday destinations with pet-friendly facilities (3).
To accommodate this trend, the Italian Ministry of Health has published guidelines for the transportation of pets on plane, train, ship/ferry and car (4). Even if each airline company has its own rules for transporting animals, there are common rules that must be followed on all public transports. For example, pets must travel in pet transporters that are big enough to allow them to turn and crouch, that are well ventilated, waterproof and resistant. Additional documents of good health from the vet and ID are also required on ferries.
Travelling by car requires additional measures to ensure that pets have a peaceful journey. So, it is quite considerate to have a bowl of water and a towel to refresh the animal, planning stops to stretch their muscles and a walk at destination.
If you follow these guidelines, you can take your pet with you in absolute serenity and safety without giving up their company.
In addition to these tips, it’s essential to have products that will make the journey enjoyable for the owner as well, in particular to eliminate the smell of pets.
Woofi is a special chemical product formulated to remove the smell of your animal friends in the car and on all surfaces, which works not by covering the odours but by incorporating them irreversibly.
Uklin, on the other hand, has been designed to eliminate the unpleasant smell of urine from all surfaces. Its scent is pleasant to man and has a repellent effect on the animal in order to trigger off a deterrent mechanism without bothering it.
The benefits of Woofi and Uklin are complementary and they do not damage the materials and surfaces treated, they do not leave residues, they do not bother pets and their effectiveness is long-lasting.
So be pet-friendly and bring your pets with you.
Woofi and Uklin will be by your side!
