Is your DPF clogged? Don’t replace it… clean it!

A diesel particulate filter is a device that traps unburned carbon particles, commonly known as fine particulate matter. These pollutants are produced during normal engine operation and the role of the particulate filter is to clean them out. When the soot particles in the filter reach a set level, the device automatically triggers a cleaning process called regeneration. It consists of a process of burning off the accumulated soot which gets converted into CO2.

A clogged diesel particulate filter can cause significant vehicle operating problems:

– loss of efficiency in the car’s performance

– increased energy consumption

– loss of engine power

– jerking car

In these cases, the most common solution adopted by mechanics is to replace the DPF. Still, the diesel particulate filter should be replaced only if it is damaged, while in the event of a blockage, cleaning with specific and certified products is enough.

Errecom, whose mission has always been to propose sustainable solutions to the market, has designed and produced a kit for cleaning this device, avoiding unnecessary waste wherever possible.

DPF FLUSH KIT consists of three products:

– DPF Flush: 5 L tank of diesel particulate filter cleaner

– DPF Rinse: 5 L tank of liquid for rinsing the DPF

– DPF Flush Gun: specific equipment for cleaning the DPF.

DPF Flush is a diesel particulate filter cleaner whose non-flammable and metal-free formulation acts deep inside the honeycomb structure of the DPF. It easily removes soot and unburned carbon particles that obstruct the normal passage of engine exhaust gas, restoring the entire exhaust system and the original condition of the DPF.

To perform a complete cleaning, it is necessary then to rinse the DPF with DPF Rinse to remove any DPF Flush residue and restore the activity of the catalyst.

To simplify these two steps, you can find on Errecom’s catalogue the DPF Flush Gun: a specific tool that works with compressed air, equipped with interchangeable probes that can be used on any type and model of diesel particulate filter.

Thanks to the DPF Flush Kit, diesel particulate filter maintenance gets simple, fast, and sustainable:

– it cleans and regenerates the system without dismantling components

– it reduces vehicle downtime

– it avoids unnecessary replacement of components

– it reduces waste and protects the environment.

Moreover, as the diesel particulate filter is one of the elements introduced by car manufacturers in response to new atmospheric pollution regulations, it is important to remember that its cleaning is essential to ensure that the engine’s efficiency gets regularly restored, and harmful emissions are reduced.
