How to clean the A/C condensate drain

The A/C condensate drain is one of the components that must be maintained to ensure complete cleaning and sanitisation of an A/C system.

Condensation is a natural occurrence indicating that an air conditioning system is running properly. More specifically, this phenomenon results from the continued transition of the refrigerant, circulating in the air conditioner, from a liquid to a gaseous state.

The condensate drain, then, plays an essential role to ensure the proper operation of an A/C system and it is, therefore, a component that should not be neglected during its regular maintenance.

If the condensate drain lines are not properly and regularly cleaned, algae, mould, clogs and different types of dirt may prevent water from draining, causing bad smells, leaks, and other malfunctions.

To solve these problems, Errecom has developed Drizzle, a fast-acting and effective cleaner for condensate drain pipes. Its specific formulation removes dirt, encrustations, and organic residues that often clog the lines, eliminating algae and mould too. Safe and non-aggressive, Drizzle does not ruin metal components. It can be used as a precautionary measure to prevent the formation of new clogs.

A completely different technology, instead, has been developed by Errecom for cleaning and descaling the condensate drain. Drain Tabs: tablets which, if inserted every 15/20 days, avoid the formation of algae, mucilage, sludge, and mould, preventing the drain pipes from clogging and the phenomenon of putrefaction from occurring.

Lastly, to meet more ecological requirements, Errecom has developed Emerald Tabs: the eco-friendly edition. Their high biodegradability level (over 99%) prevents condensate drain lines from clogging, while fully and completely respecting the environment. The MINI size is also available, compatible with A/C systems that require smaller tablets.
