Errecom goes green:
reduction by 11% of plastic usage in 2020
Italy’s most important business newspaper (Il Sole 24 Ore) has recently shared extremely important news. According to the 2020 data, Italy has proved to be one of the most eco-friendly countries in Europe. Research conducted by Corepla, the Italian Consortium for the collection and recycling of plastic packaging, has highlighted two extremely positive trends. On the one hand, a reduction by 5% in the amount of packaging placed on the market; on the other, the growth of the national plastic recycling market (up 4% compared to 2019).
Errecom also played its part and, despite the Covid emergency and the consequent need to review goals and strategies, did not give up the environmental challenges it had set itself.
Packaging: finding a balance between product preservation and environmental sustainability
The quality of chemical products does not depend only on the formulation developed by the laboratory but is also linked to the preservation that only proper and high-quality packaging can ensure.
In 2020 Errecom recorded a 60% increase in the amount of packaging produced. On the one hand, this number is physiologically linked to an increase of over 32% in turnover, and on the other has been made necessary by the need to guarantee the preservation of products through proper packaging. Errecom’s biggest challenge is to find a balance between two essential needs: product preservation and environmental sustainability. With this goal, Errecom has searched for alternative and sustainable solutions, managing to reduce the use of plastic packaging by 11%, replacing it with paper.
Today 69% of Errecom’s packaging is made of 70% recycled paper.
Errecom’s commitment to the environment is a cornerstone of the company’s mission. From the choices regarding packaging to those relating to biodegradable raw materials, not to forget the mission of most of Errecom’s product categories: to restore the efficiency of air conditioning and refrigeration systems, reducing their impact on the planet.
A green commitment that characterises the history of the company, which certainly does not intend to change direction now.
As far as packaging is concerned, Errecom’s promise for the future is to maintain and even improve as much as possible the already positive trend recorded between 2019 and 2020. Wherever possible Errecom will continue along the path already taken to replace plastic containers with glass, aluminium, and steel. Solutions that, together with the use of recycled paper, are contributing to making an ecological packaging transition possible.
